Trip Overview
A Whirlwind Through France’s Most Enchanting Christmas Markets
We begin in Paris, where the Eiffel Tower twinkles in the night sky and festive chalets line the boulevards. From the shimmering stalls at Jardins des Tuileries to the cozy charm of Notre Dame’s market, the City of Lights becomes a winter wonderland.
Next, we venture east to Strasbourg—the self-proclaimed Capital of Christmas. Here, the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread fills the air as we wander through Christkindelsmärik, one of Europe’s oldest and most iconic holiday markets. Each square reveals a new theme, a new home-made treasure, and a reason to believe in magic.
Then it’s off to Colmar, a town so fairytale-perfect it feels like stepping into a storybook. Half-timbered houses glow under garlands, canals shimmer with reflections, and every corner offers handmade treasures and spiced treats.
We wrap it all up in Mulhouse, where the market is stitched with history—literally. Each year, a new festive fabric is designed to honor the city’s textile roots, adorning chalets and streets with color and charm. With over 90 artisan stalls, local delicacies, and a warm, authentic vibe, it’s the perfect final chapter to our holiday adventure.

Paris at Christmas
A Feast for the Senses
Days 1 - 4
The City of Lights truly sparkles during the holiday season—and we’re all about the magic. We’ll wander through Paris’s most iconic Christmas markets, where twinkling lights meet the scent of mulled wine and crepes.
Expect unforgettable stops like the Eiffel Tower, a Parisian walking tour, and our cheeky, indulgent “No Diet” food tour through Le Marais. Because let’s be honest—calories don’t count in Paris.
We’re also stepping into a local’s home for a hands-on pastry-making class with an expert. Think indulgent treats, buttery bliss, and stories shared over flour-dusted countertops.
Between group activities, you’ll have plenty of downtime to explore—whether that’s getting lost in the Louvre, uncovering secrets on a Paris underground tour, or chasing your own cozy corner of the city.
Paris offers endless options, and this itinerary blends festive magic with cultural depth, culinary joy, and just the right amount of spontaneity.
Typical accommodations: Hôtel Le Relais Saint Charles or similar

Strasbourg

The Capital of Christmas
Day 4-5
Welcome to Strasbourg, where holiday magic isn’t just decoration—it’s legacy. Since 1570, this city has hosted the Christkindelsmärik, one of Europe’s oldest Christmas markets, and the heart of Alsatian holiday tradition.
We’ll wander through Place Broglie, where the market first began, and Place Kléber, home to the towering Grand Sapin—a 30-meter Christmas tree that glows like a beacon of joy. The scent of cinnamon, cloves, and citrus floats through the air as we sip vin chaud and nibble on Bredele cookies, passed down through generations.
But Strasbourg is more than sparkle—it’s a cultural tapestry. From Gothic cathedrals to Protestant roots, the city’s festive spirit is shaped by centuries of faith, folklore, and craftsmanship. You’ll find hand-carved ornaments, traditional textiles, and stories tucked into every chalet.
Optional highlights:
🕯️ Visit the Advent wreath exhibition, honoring Alsatian traditions
🎶 Catch a local choir performance echoing through the cathedral square

Typical accommodations: Ibis Styles Strasbourg République or similar
Colmar
A Fairytale You Can Walk Through
Day 5
Step into Colmar, a town so storybook-perfect it’s rumored to have inspired Beauty and the Beast (I am not kidding when I say this is what originally drew me to this town)! With its half-timbered houses draped in garlands, cobblestone lanes glowing under twinkling lights, and gingerbread-scented air, this is not just a Christmas market—it’s a full-body immersion into holiday enchantment.
We’ll stroll through six distinct markets, each with its own personality—from the artisan stalls at Place des Dominicains to the gourmet delights tucked inside the Koïfhus. But the real magic? It’s in the moments between the markets:
🎠 Spinning slowly on the adult-themed carousel bar, Christmas mugs in hand filled with body warming delights, laughter echoing through the square
📸 Snapping photos beside oversized gingerbread men and glowing facades that look like they were built by elves with a flair for drama
🧸 A visit to Petite Venise, where the canal-side chalets feel like a snow globe come to life
🍽️ Cozy meals served up - Alsatian classics like tarte flambée and baeckeoffe
🛍️ Free time to hunt for the perfect ceramic mug (yes, even the carousel has its own!)
Colmar isn’t just a stop—it’s a feeling. One part nostalgia, one part sparkle, and one part mulled wine-fueled joy.
Typical accommodations (2 nights in Mulhouse): La Maison Hotel Mulhouse Centre or similar

Mulhouse

Festive Farewell
Mulhouse – A Festive Farewell Wrapped in Tradition
Our final day unfolds in Mulhouse, a hidden gem in Alsace where Christmas is stitched into the very fabric of the city—literally. Each year, Mulhouse designs a unique holiday textile that adorns the market stalls, streets, and facades, honoring its rich history as the cradle of France’s textile industry. We’ll wander through the Place de la Réunion, where over 90 artisan chalets offer handmade gifts, local delicacies, and festive treasures.
Highlights include:
🧵 Boutique aux Etoffes – a stop to admire (or snag!) the exclusive Christmas fabric of the season
⛪ Temple Saint-Étienne – the tallest Protestant church in France, glowing with thousands of twinkling lights
📸 Free time for last-minute shopping, photo ops, or a quiet moment with mulled wine in hand
As the sun sets and the market lights flicker to life, we’ll toast to new friendships, shared laughter, and the unforgettable memories made across France’s most enchanting holiday towns.

Magical, Well-Planned, and So Much Fun
— Katy C
The France Christmas tour was everything I hoped for and more. Every detail was taken care of—from the amazing hotels to the festive market visits. Our pre-planned activities were well thought out and informative. I joined solo but felt instantly part of the group. The itinerary was smooth and well-paced, with just the right mix of sightseeing, downtime, and holiday magic. Highlights for me were the lights in Strasbourg, the food tour in Paris, and the the hidden market stalls that were uncovered from this tour. I felt safe, supported, and totally immersed in the experience. I’d absolutely travel with Roam with Me again.
