Women-Only Getaway

Great Smoky Mountains + Asheville Fall Escape

Five days of cozy mountain magic, boutique craft culture, and peak‑season fall foliage.

Imagine this: breathing in the crisp mountain air, the Blue Ridge Mountains glowing in shades of amber and gold, and your new‑found group of friends sharing stories around the fire — blankets wrapped around us, hot cocoa in hand (maybe with a little Baileys… we won’t tell).

Asheville welcomes us with its artsy heartbeat and craft‑forward charm — the perfect beginning to a fall getaway that feels both grounding and beautiful.

We’ll wander through the gardens of the Biltmore Estate as the leaves turn, sip wine in a local family-run winery overlooking the endless rolling hills, and dive into Asheville’s boutique maker scene with a hands‑on artisan workshop.

Then we slip into the mountains — trading city streets for winding scenic roads, quiet forests, and the soft hush of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our private cabin becomes home: mornings with mist rising over the hills, afternoons exploring waterfalls and overlooks, and evenings watching the stars shine brightly above us.

This is fall at its most magical. Slow. Cozy. Color‑drenched. A retreat that feels like a deep breath you didn’t know you needed.

Highlights:

Biltmore Beauty + Boutique Asheville Crafting

Day 2

We spend the morning exploring the iconic Biltmore Estate — sweeping lawns, glowing fall gardens, and the kind of grandeur that makes you whisper “wow” without meaning to.

By mid-day, we dive into Asheville’s artisan soul with a hands‑on boutique workshop. It’s playful, sensory, and so very Asheville.

Our afternoon is spent soaking in the colors, we make our way to a nearby family‑run winery tucked into the rolling hills — endless views, warm hospitality, and a slow, cozy tasting that feels like pure North Carolina charm.

We end the day with dinner at one of Asheville's foodie gems — farm‑to‑table, seasonal, and unforgettable. If the group is up for it, we can wander to a local brewery or cider house afterward for a nightcap.

We make our way to our private mountain cabin — your home for the remaining nights. This is where the cozy magic happens.

  • Blankets wrapped around us

  • A crackling fire outside

  • Hot cocoa warming our hands

  • Stories, laughter, and that soft mountain quiet settling in around us

Smoky Mountain Magic: Waterfalls, Fall Color & Crisp‑Air Wandering

Day 3

This is the day we dive straight into the heart of the Smokies — the winding mountain roads, the overlooks that make you stop mid‑sentence, and the crisp October air that feels like it’s waking up every part of you.

We leave Asheville behind and head toward the park, watching the mountains rise around us in soft waves of fall color. The drive itself feels like part of the adventure — windows cracked, music low, that excited hum in the car.

Our day unfolds like this:

  • Newfound Gap Overlook - The kind of view that makes everyone go quiet for a moment. Layers of mountains stretching out forever, brushed with fall color.

  • Clingmans Dome (optional) - At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the entire Great Smoky Mountains — and honestly, it feels like it. A quick (and yes, steep!) half‑mile paved walk takes you to the iconic spiral tower where the views stretch for miles and miles. On a clear day, you can see 100+ miles of blue‑layered ridgelines — it’s like standing in a postcard. Straddling the North Carolina–Tennessee border, this spot sits right on the Appalachian Trail and has that “we’re really up here” energy.

  • We’ll settle in beside the rushing water — picnic tables tucked under the trees, big boulders in the river, the sound of the rushing river echoing through the forest.

  • Scenic pull‑offs along Newfound Gap Road - Those spontaneous “let’s hop out for a photo” moments. Crisp air, glowing leaves, and that feeling of being so small in the best way.

  • Maggie Valley stop - A cozy mountain town with nostalgic Smoky Mountain charm. Perfect for a warm drink, a diner lunch, or a little browsing.

  • Sunset Overlook - The mountains glow, the sky softens, and the whole world feels golden. It’s the kind of sunset that stays with you.

Blue Ridge Parkway Bliss: Craggy Gardens, Mountain Air & Small-Town Charm

Day 4

Today is all about slowing down into the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains — big views, artisan craft, small‑town charm, and a relaxed riverside toast to wrap it all up. It’s a day that feels spacious, scenic, and full of those little moments that make a retreat feel like a retreat.

Southern Highland Craft Guild — Folk Art Center

We start the morning with a dose of creativity at the Folk Art Center, home to the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Inside, you’ll find Appalachian makers showcasing everything from pottery and textiles to woodwork, glass, and jewelry — all handcrafted, all deeply rooted in the region’s culture.

It’s the perfect way to ease into the day: wandering, discovering, and soaking in the artistry of the mountains.

Blue Ridge Parkway Scenic Stops

We’ll continue along the Parkway, pulling off at a couple of the best overlooks — the ones with rolling ridgelines, golden light, and that quiet mountain stillness that makes you want to breathe a little deeper.

This is your slow, scenic stretch of the day.

Small-Town Charm

In the afternoon, we make our way to Waynesville, a charming mountain town full of boutiques, makers, and cozy cafés. After a little wandering, we’ll head to local spot - a relaxed, local brewery set right beside the creek.

Think:

  • Cold local brews

  • A riverside patio

  • That easy, end of a good day feeling

Oconaluftee at Dusk — Wild Smokies Magic

Before we head back toward Asheville, we make a quick stop at Oconaluftee, one of the best places in the Smokies to spot elk at sunset. Wide open meadows, soft golden light, and these massive, gentle animals grazing against a mountain backdrop — it feels like stepping into a nature documentary. It’s peaceful, grounding, and the perfect “wow, this is real” moment to end our Smokies adventure.

Return to Our Cozy Mountain Escape

As the light fades, we head back to our private mountain retreat — blankets, firelight, warm drinks, and the kind of conversations that only happen after a beautiful day together.

It’s the perfect way to end the night: gathered around the fire, sharing stories, reflecting on the day, and settling into the comfort of the mountains.

Meet Your Host -
Amanda

This trip is a chance to slow down and savor slow‑moving mornings with a warm cup of coffee, feel the rush of mountain waterfalls, wander through golden forests, and soak in the creative charm of Asheville.

I’m Amanda, founder of Roam With Me Travel — and your guide to one of the most enchanting mountain regions in the country: the Great Smoky Mountains.

The Smokies have a way of pulling you in. The rolling ridgelines, the soft morning mist, the glow of fall color — it’s the kind of beauty that reminds you what it feels like to be fully, vividly present. If the mountains have been calling, this is your moment to answer them — alongside a group of women who are just as excited for big views, good vibes, and shared adventure as you are.

Think of me as part trip leader, part hype‑woman, part logistics ninja. My job is to make sure you’re immersed in the magic while everything behind the scenes flows seamlessly.

Roam With Me style means:

  • High‑energy wonder — excitement, laughter, and those “did you SEE that?” moments

  • Seamless flow — scenic drives, waterfall stops, wildlife sightings, and perfectly timed viewpoints

  • Instant community — whether you’re coming solo or with a friend, you’ll feel part of the Roam With Me family from day one

I love creating spaces where travelers feel cared for, connected, and free to soak up every moment. I can’t wait to explore these extraordinary mountains with you.
